Lugazi diocese commissioned a massive housing project, which will greatly boast the diocese’s financial self -reliance. The project at Namagunga(besides the road to Mount St. Mary’s College Namagunga, in Buikwe District) comprises a huge shopping center, self-contained houses for teachers, health center and a restaurant. According to Bishop Christopher Kakooza, the ordinary of Lugazi diocese, all the money (estimated to be in billions ) was contributed by the local Christians. The project was launched by the Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, His excellency Archbishop Luigi Bianco. The newly-commissioned housing project is the monument for the diocese’s silver jubilee.
