Brief history:

This parish was opened on 03.05. 2019 and is under the Mill Hill Fathers.

The first parish priest, was and still is (by 2022) Rev. Fr. Yangnyi Frederick N. MHM.

Population

It has 17 Sub-Parishes and 57 Small Basic Christian communities (BCC)

Schools

The parish has no church founded secondary school.

It however has 13 primary schools.

HEALTH SERVICES:

There is no Catholic Church founded health facility in this Parish so far.

BUVUMA PARISH

Patron Saint

Buvuma Parish is under the patronage of St. John Baptist.

Brief history:

This parish was opened on 03.03.1901 by the Mill Hill Missionaries.

The first parish priest was Rev. Fr. J. Biermans.

Population

The parish has 36 Sub – Parishes (on 52 Islands)

The Christian population is 72,422 Christians.

Schools

The parish has 05 catholic primary schools: Sacta Maria RC, Bugaya RC, Bulondo RC, St. Francis Bubanzi, and St. Kizito’s Namunyolo  PS.

Kabimbiri Parish is under the patronage of Our Lady of Assumption.

This parish was opened in 1957 by the Mill Hill Missionaries.

The first parish priest was Rev. Fr. Conning/Koning.

Population

The parish has 13 Sub – Parishes and 44 Small Basic Christian communities (BCC)

It has a Christian population of about 7200 people.

The parish has one secondary school: St. Andrew Kaggwa S.S.S, Kabimbiri.

KALAGALA PARISH

Patron Saint

This parish is under the patronage of St. Francis De Sales.

Location

Creation

This is a recently created parish by Bishop Christopher Kakooza and put under the pastoral care of the Salesian Fathers. It was opened on 10/02/2021. 

The first parish priest: Rev. Fr. Jose Eriyanickal.

 Population

The parish has 11 Sub – Parishes and 30 Small Basic Christian communities (BCC).

The figures for the number of Christians, the Christian families and the non-Christian families are not yet available.

The parish has one secondary school: St. Cornelius’ S S. S Kalagala.

It has three primary schools which are catholic founded: St. Charles Lwanga Kalagala, St. Martha Malubya and St. Thereza Kyongwe.

Kangulumira parish is under the patronage of the Holy Cross.

This parish was opened by the Archdiocese of Kampala on 24.10.1982

The first parish priest: Rev. Fr. Mutyaba Ceaser.

 Population:

It has 11 Sub – Parishes and 58 Small Basic Christian communities (BCC).

It has 12,250 Christians.

Families: it has1,675 Christian families and 4,350 non-Christian families.

 Schools:

The parish has one Catholic founded Secondary School:  St. Ponsiano Ngondwe SSS Kangulumira.

Creation:
Kasawo Parish was opened, on 08.12.1996 by Kampala Archdiocese and was placed under the pastoral care of Msgr. Euginio Jjemba.

Population:
The parish has 17 Sub – Parishes and 53 Small Basic Christian communities (BCC).
It has 56810 Christians, with 1, 216 (Approximately) Christian families and 1,649 (Approximately) non-Christian families.

Schools:
The parish has one Secondary school: Seat of Wisdom S. S. Kasawo.

Kayunga parish was started by the Mill Hill Missionaries and was opened on 31.10.1949.

First parish priest was Rev. Fr. Clemens Joseph Hugo Lampe.

 Population:

It has 61,680 Christians with 6,168 Christian families and 4,169 non-Christian families.

This Parish was opened on 25.09.2011.

This Parish was opened on 14.04.2019 by Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza.

The first Parish priest was and is still Rev. Fr. Pontiano Musoke O.S.M

The Christian population is 20,000 Christians.

Families: 3,714 Christian families and 4,025 non-Christian families

The Parish has the following plans to execute;

  • Open avenues that will lead the Parish to self-reliance.
  • Promote peer to peer evangelization.
  • Organise special family apostolate with emphasis on prayers, Sunday attendance and reception of sacraments.
  • Strengthening the Altar Servers Association to be a seed center for Vocations.
  • Promotion of mechanized agricultural practices for increased food and cash crop production.
  • Continued formation of Community and Teacher Catechists.

MBIKKO PARISH

Patron Saint:

Mbikko Parish is under the patronage of St. Karoli Lwanga.

Creation:

This Parish was opened on 08/ 03/ 1992 by the Mill Hill Missionaries.   

The first Parish priest was Rev. Fr. Leonard Wiedemayr (MHM)

It has 13 Sub – Parishes and 58 Small Basic Christian communities (BCC)

The Christian population is 19,376 Christians.

Christian initiation:

Baptisms: 15,058 with 2013 having the highest number of children baptized, 2,013.

Confirmations: 5,905, with 2013 producing the highest number of 668.

Matrimony:

There have been 274 couples married in Church with the year 2005 giving the highest number of 34.

Since its creation the Parish has had 9 of its children ordained priests and these are: Fr. Prof. J.C Maviiri, Fr. Mugabo Deogratias Bisangwa, Fr. Charles Kapupa .S., Fr. Henry Jude Mbaziira, Fr. This Parish was opened in 1907 by the Mill Hill Missionaries.

This Parish was opened on 01/ 09/ 2018 by Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza.

This Parish was opened 15/ 08/1897 by the Mill Hill Fathers.

This Parish was opened on 08/09/1997.

The first Parish priest was Rev. Fr. Matia Ssimbwa.

The parish has seven (07) Sub – Parishes and twenty-nine (29) Small Basic Christian communities (BCC).

The Christian population is 8,170 Christians.

Families: 818 Christian families and 1,334 non-Christian families

The parish has no Catholic founded secondary school.

This Parish was opened in March 1901 by the Mill Hill Missionaries.

The first Parish priest was Rev. Fr. Litolff Louis (Ludoviko)

Population

The parish has 20 Sub – Parishes and 85 Small Basic Christian communities (BCC)

The Christian population is 12,000 Christians.

Families: 4,200 Christian families and 4,000 non-Christian families.

Schools

The Parish has two (02) secondary schools: Cardinal Nsubuga S. S.S. Nyenga, and St. Joseph’s Seminary Nyenga.

The Parish was opened on 10/09/2017 by Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza.

The first Parish priest was Rev. Fr. Charles Lwanga Ssuuna.

Population

The Parish has four (04) Sub – Parishes and twenty (20) Small Basic Christian communities (BCC).

The Christian population is 6,250 Christians.

Families: 482 Christian families and 95 non-Christian families.
